Butterfly Sofa - Vitra

The Mariposa sofa from the Vitra firm is a design by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerbi, launched in 2014, but which has won many lovers over the years for its great comfort, functionality and design.

With a discreet and elegant appearance, it offers balanced proportions that offer a comfortable seat and padded backrests in which to enjoy your home after a long day of work, you will create your perfect space to relax, watch TV or simply read a book. The larger versions invite you to stretch out and use the adjustable armrests as a backrest or headrest.

Its extraordinary comfort is due, on the one hand, to the pleasant softness of its padding, which completely envelops the user and prevents them from coming into contact with the hardest structural elements. In addition, an ingenious adjustment mechanism allows the side panels and backrest to be individually adapted to different positions.

The Mariposa sofas from Vitra offer size options, the two-seater Mariposa has a single continuous seat cushion, unlike the larger versions of the two-and-a-half-seater and three-seater Mariposa that are equipped with two seat cushions.

The Mariposa sofa does not clearly show its functional characteristics: the slender side and back elements can be adjusted gradually and quietly, from a vertical outward position at an angle of approximately 30° and vice versa. The resistance has been calibrated in such a way that these elements do not move when the user is normally leaning back, but adjust at the desired angle when the necessary pressure is applied. This flexibility allows each user to set the position that is most comfortable for them.
