Panton Chair Miniature. (Set of 5 units)
Inspired by pop art and popular culture, the furniture design of the 60s broke with the purism of modern functionalism. The use of new materials freed furniture from the constraints of traditional structures and allowed designers to play imaginatively with form and color. At international furniture exhibitions, designers such as Verner Panton present futuristic-looking interior landscapes that go with a hedonistic, easy, and free lifestyle.
Verner Panton wrote of his works: I try to forget the existing examples, even if they are well done and find my own way of making peace with the materials. The result rarely has four legs, not because I don't want to make a chair, but because working with new materials such as wire mesh and polyester demand new shapes. The Panton Chair is today considered one of the classics of modern furniture design. It was the first chair in the history of design to have no hind legs and to be molded into an all-plastic piece. It took him almost 12 years of development before the idea could be put into practice.
