The A808 floor lamp is a design by Alvar Aalto for Artek. The hand-turned shade of this elegant floor lamp is made of delicate strips of white lacquered metal or polished brass, which prevent glare by diffusing the light evenly. The strips form concentric circles of increasing size that combine to form an inverted bowl shape. The slim angled neck finished in polished brass, contrasts perfectly with the black leather finish of the stand, which is hand-stitched in Finland. The light was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1955 for the National Pension Institute in Helsinki.
