George Nelson, 1948/60.
Black Sunburst Clok.
Progress and growing economic prosperity are central aspects of the American lifestyle of the 1950s. Everything seemed possible and people were striving to be "modern". With the aim of bringing design closer to American homes, George Nelson conceived a wide range of everyday objects: lamps, clocks and other household accessories. Until the 1970s, Nelson's office created many and diverse household items. The Bubble Lamps and the Ball Clock quickly became icons of modern design.
Today, their table and wall clocks are still a refreshing alternative to conventional clocks. The Vitra Design Museum is once again putting on sale a re-edition of these coveted collector's designs, faithful to the original.
