Shelves designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra.
Corniches arise from the spontaneous need to find a space to deposit small objects. It can be used as a shelf for keys next to the front door, a place to leave within reach what we need in the bathroom, as a pedestal for a small collection of objects or for a large installation, Corniches are a new way to use the wall in the home, office, or any space we can think of.

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec Corniches are informal and flexible shelves, like small ledges created by nature.
"Just as when we jump into the sea we look for a ledge in the rock to hang our things, in everyday life we also need a small and informal storage place," explains Ronan Bouroullec. This is why Corniches are not simply shelves or horizontal surfaces, but rather individual protrusions isolated within the environments we create.
