We present the IDO stools from the Italian furniture house Zanotta. Designed by Frank Rettenbacher in 2016, inspired by the brand's classic Giotto stools.
Available in two seat heights, 65 and 72 centimetres, the Ido stools are produced with a solid oak or natural varnished Canaletto walnut structure and satin stainless steel footrests.
According to designer Frank Rettenbacher: "Inspired by the classic Giotto stool by Zanotta which celebrated its 40th birthday in 2015, I proposed a new design for a wooden seat, based on my previous work with the company."
"Zanotta asked me to design a taller version for use on bar and restaurant counters. That's why we call the top stool "Ido" to go along with the Ivo bottom stool. After trying different steel braces, I decided that a simple triangle could serve as a rigid footrest. Then I left it in raw stainless steel."
