Fauteuil Direction.

The Fauteuil de Salon is a design by Jean Prouvé for Vitra. Fauteuil Direction is a comfortable chair especially suitable for sitting at the dining table. Its design is an example of the constructive aesthetic for which Prouvé is so well known. This compact chair is also ideal for the home office, where it is particularly attractive in combination with the small Compas Direction desk.

Outside of the home-like environment, the Fauteuil Direction adds a touch of elegance to lobbies, restaurants and waiting rooms.

Developed by Jean Prouvé, the Fauteuil de Salon is a typical example of the unmistakable structural aesthetics of his designs. The discreet character of the armchair fits into a wide variety of interiors and its wide upholstery and armrests made of solid oil-treated wood convey a feeling of absolute comfort.

Jean Prouvé (1901-1984), architect, engineer and designer, strove to use highly developed technologies for metal processing, achieve innovative constructions and forms in his design and architectural work. He was instrumental in the development of construction techniques using lightweight prefabricated parts in architecture, drawing upon, among other things, ideas from the aircraft and the automotive industry. In his Ateliers Jean Prouvé, a company he founded in 1947, he began to produce not only lightweight components but also his own designs.

Seat and backrest: polyurethane padding; fabric or leather upholstery.

Armrests: solid wood with oil finish; natural oak, smoked oak or American walnut.

Base: Formed steel sheet and tubular steel, powder coating (fine texture)

Glides: hard glides for carpet or felt for hard floors.
