The Barbados ashtray, designed by Angelo Mangiarotti and produced by Danese Milano, is a glazed ceramic ashtray that has two parts: a base and a ring-shaped lid that fits on top and hides part of the contents. The simple and pure geometry of the design gives the Barbados ashtray a distinctive aura that almost makes it an object of contemplation.
In 1994, the Italian architect and industrial engineer Angelo Mangiarotti received the Compasso d'Oro from the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale for his entire career.
