Coffee Mug New Sun Gold.
This elegant coffee mug, produced by Vitra, immortalizes one of Alexander Girard's iconic designs. The motifs that appear on coffee cups have their origin and inspiration in environments such as restaurants.
Coffee mugs with Alexander Girard's well-known graphics represent a collection of special design objects, accessories and textiles that can transform a house into a home. Sensual and playful designs by Alexander Girard that have helped shape the 20th century and now through these porcelain mugs invite us to a comforting cup of coffee.
Along with his colleagues Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson, Alexander Girard was one of the leading figures in postwar American design. While textile design was the focal point in Girard's work, he was also admired for his work in the graphic arts as well as in the design of furniture, exhibitions and interiors. Girard brought a touch of playfulness and sensuality to twentieth-century design, which lacked the austere aesthetics of modern furniture classics.
In his work as an interior designer, Girard created a series of restaurant concepts that were not limited to the color scheme and furnishings but encompassed details such as the menu menu, matchboxes, tableware, and napkins. The motifs of the Coffee Mugs have their origin and inspiration in this wide variety of environments.
