The Plywood DCM chair is a 1946 design designed by Charles & Ray Eames and published by Vitra.
Plywood DCM stands out for the elegance of its curves in molded wood veneer and tubular steel base that gives the design a sculptural and stylish aesthetic. Choose between ash or walnut wood and chrome or black-coated base.
After multiple experiments with the molding of wood veneer, Charles and Ray Eames sought new procedures to adapt this three-dimensional material to the shapes of the human body. The Plywood Group is composed of this DCM (Dining Chair Metal) design and the DCW (Dining Chair Wood). The complex shapes of both designs are made with the moldable technique of sheet metal that gives the designs minimalist elegance.
Materials: Molded plywood with ash veneer (natural or black) or walnut. Base of shiny chrome tubular steel or coated in black color. The seat and backrest are fixed to the base by means of rubber and metal elements (shock mounts). Felt glides for hard floor.
Measurements: Width 51.5 x depth 56.5 x total height 73.5 x seat height 40 centimeters.
